Open the Door

In this crazy world we live in it is really hard to stay connected to Jesus. Its really hard to stay passionate and excited about our faith when we are busy, distracted, and bombarded every day with anti-Jesus lifestyles and beliefs. Every one of us experiences days, weeks, and sometimes months when we feel dry, disconnected and honestly a little uninterested in God. When it gets to a certain point, we have a hard time even knowing how to get back on the wagon and rev up our interest again.

If you find yourself in a place like that tonight, I hope that you won't just give up and allow those feelings to consume you. Here's a suggestion: find someone whose fire burns bright, whose passion is deep and wide, and whose faith can inspire and move you beyond a place of complacency and boredom. Talk to that person and suck every ounce of passion and excitement out of them that you can. . . trust me, when someone is zealous for God they long to share that passion with others.

There is a song out that I absolutely love. The words speak so deeply to the real-life experiences of people today and the truths about God that can change and uplift our perspective. It goes like this:
The Desert Song

This is my prayer in the desert
when all that's within me feels dry
This is my prayer and my hunger and need
My God is the God who provides

And this is my prayer in the fire
In weakness and trial and pain
There is a faith proved of more worth than gold
so refine me Lord through the flame.

I will bring praise, I will bring praise,
no weapon formed against me shall remain.
I will rejoice, I will declare
God is my victory and He is here.
God is always with us. If you feel distant and disconnected all you need to do is turn around and acknowledge him - ask him to draw you close and ignite the fire again. . . he will come. You might not feel his power and presence the very moment that you ask. . . but Jesus himself promises that he will come.
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:20
